I'd like to express my gratitude and appreciation to Piwigo, without whom I'd have been a very unhappy archivist. Since 2007, I've been shooting my life, day by day. In 2010, I felt the intrinsic fear of losing my photos. That's when Piwigo came into my life, never to leave again. Today, I manage over 50,000 photos, and despite the sheer number, the gallery remains fluid and the many themes enhance the interface to suit your tastes. The other reason I love Piwigo is the ability to customize who sees each folder. I have 200 users who can see all the photos of all the evenings we've spent together. And thanks to tags, each of my friends can, in a way, follow his or her evolution by seeing all the photos in which he or she appears and has been tagged. Piwigo is like the Wordpress of photography.

When we had to change the university's existing photo library solution in a hurry, Piwigo seemed a good compromise. We needed a solution that was quick and easy to set up, enabling us to technically manage a large image database with indexing, metadata management and search capabilities akin to an EDM or DAM solution, a real publishing and sharing interface with access rights management, operational interfacing with the school's information system and seamless integration into my Lightroom workflow. After two years, Piwigo has given us a great deal of satisfaction, far beyond the transitional solution we expected. Although the DAM functions still need to be enhanced, the flexibility provided by the customization and plug-in system and the open source development mode make it a scalable, adaptable and robust solution, capable of elegantly covering the essentials.

Our Piwigo, Images du Revest, is an initiative of 2 associations dedicated to history, heritage and culture. It's a contributive inventory where geolocation, description and comments are as important as the image. Piwigo is a complete CMS that goes far beyond a simple online album: it's thanks to its collaborative mode that Piwigo made possible our beautiful exhibition and the writing of the associated book. Fine-tuned rights management makes behind-the-scenes work practical, efficient and discreet. Our Piwigo is the 4th component of our web communication, along with the Carnets, the forum and a curation tool. The images in the album can already be used on the forum, and soon in the Carnets, and the style of the different sites has been easily standardized, so that readers have the impression of staying in the land of knowledge, while moving from one site to another. We're enthusiasts, volunteers, passers-on of knowledge, and Piwigo is our tool and our vehicle for sharing knowledge about our village of Revest-les-Eaux.

Piwigo gives me the ability to customize the look of my gallery so that it doesn't look like any other, while providing outstanding performance and practical features for both the user and the site administrator. The French Swimming Federation has a huge collection of photos and videos. I'm a professional photographer. My old website was an online gallery, but it was 10 years old and no longer up to today's standards, notably compatibility with tablets and smartphones. So I started looking for a robust solution: 3,000 albums and 150,000 high-resolution photos. My website is an important platform, as it allows me to make a backup of my work, to have a gallery for each customer, and each customer has a 10-year history and must be able to identify himself and download his old reports. After a long search, I came across Piwigo, which met all my expectations. So I created a test gallery and realized that there was even a module that allowed me to take over my old Gallery2 website. It's been almost a year since the migration. The site is fast and handles the mass of information well. The visual customization allowed me to get exactly what I wanted. Importantly, with open-source software, the site and community forum are very active and responsive to questions and problem-solving. In short, I'm delighted to have chosen Piwigo for the centerpiece of my professional activity.

Updating to the most recent version is very easy through the backend, you save a lot of maintaining time compared to other systems. Piwigo is highly configurable with the local files editor plugin. I am a photography enthusiast, sharing lots of free stock photos and photos from hiking trips in New Zealand. I have close to 3,500 images in my Piwigo photo gallery, and all is running very smooth. I discovered Piwigo in 2015. I needed to replace a discontinued photo gallery with something new and Piwigo ticked all the boxes for me. I never looked back - setup was fairly straightforward and maintenance is effortless. No fuss, things just work. And when something breaks (I had a broken version update once) then I received immediate help on community forums and the issue was resolved within a few hours. Frankly, that's faster than paid-for commercial support with most vendors I know of. One important factor why I picked Piwigo over other available options is the community spirit. I prefer supporting software that is available for everyone to use in any way they like. I have been using Piwigo for my wife's website for many years. It's been quite reliable for me, easy to use for her, and receives regular updates which are easy to apply. I love that it supports multiple languages, mass uploads via command line and uploads via web.

I have used Piwigo for many years and am very pleased with it. I run numerous websites with various gallery solutions, however Piwigo is by far the best and I use Piwigo on all my important websites. Using Piwigo I can create a web gallery exactly how I want it. In my own case, I want the my photographs to look as good as possible so I have a very simple gallery with large images. I also want the images to be found and that is made easy by the gallery structure and search function.

I use Piwigo to share the photo reports of my services with my customers, via a plugin that allows albums to be shared without making them public. Secondly, I use Piwigo to share service requests with each of my partners, isolating the photos that concern them in their own album and sharing them with the partners concerned. Finally, Piwigo enables me to work as part of a team: the photos I take are organized and then shared with my customers by my colleague, who can therefore work in parallel with my frequent additions. The Android application is also very useful. In short, Piwigo is the Internet photo gallery I needed! Well done!

We are an all volunteer religious organization that produces lots of media. Piwigo is perfect to manage all of the images we produce as well as our own stock images used in production. The large plugin library allows us to use Piwigo in a way that exactly suits our workflow. And the ease of use means that not only can volunteers use the site with practically no training, but the administrative work in maintaining the site is negligible. And just like in any organization, it is the people behind it that makes Piwigo such an amazing resource.

I've been using Piwigo the last few years since Flickr announced their 1,000 photo limit to free users. I used a Piwigo plugin to directly import my 11,000+ photos and groups from Flickr into my self-hosted Piwigo instance. It's been working flawlessly since and I have many of the social interactions expected such as comments, facial recognition, geolocation, ratings, etc.

I run a small gallery with pictures from car races. I tried different platforms but thanks to Piwigo I found what I need. It is intuitive to use, I don't need IT knowledge to be able to use this gallery efficiently. The software efficiently uses my old IT equipment, working on it surprisingly well for several years.

I use Piwigo since Jan. 2022 to present the beautiful paintings of a good friend of mine. Before that I compared many platforms or software to realize this task and found out that Piwigo had he best and the biggest variety of technical and optical settings of all software. And it seemed to be very easy to install and to handle. After the installation and the first use at the same day I was sure to have made the right descision. My friend was and still is very proud of the way of presenting her paintings!

I love photography, I travel and shoot various events and so I have quite a number of photos to manage. Coming from those primitive directory-based PHP scripts, I realized I need more. Albums, tags, geo-tagging, privacy management, virtual albums, user management… And all that self-hosted. And thus, I've invited Piwigo to my life. Piwigo has all the functionality I need and it's under an active development so it's continuously improving. I love Piwigo because it's fairly easy to install and then manage, easy to backup, and it's free-and-open-source software.

Piwigo is easy to install and get to grips with. The plugins enable fine-tuning of the gallery with fairly advanced features, such as automatic classification of photos according to tags or user rights management. And of course, it's an open source solution... I'm so satisfied with Piwigo that I regularly suggest this solution to my customers to create their professional photo galleries or photo libraries!

Sophie Lépissier SoFlash Production

I discovered this photo presentation application more than 3 years ago while preparing my new website hosted by Infomaniak in Geneva, Switzerland: Piwigo was proposed as an expert and easy-to-use application for distributing photo albums all over the place. I'm Swiss, I live in Switzerland and I've been an amateur photographer since I was a teenager. I mainly take photos when I'm travelling around the world, particularly in Europe in recent years, since I'm retired and I travel with a relatively compact and very comfortable motorhome. That's why I've called my site 'Images de Voyages': they're listed by year and by place visited. I use Piwigo both as a public gallery for my travel photos and as a means of archiving the wealth of images I produce every year (perhaps too many according to some!?!). Piwigo offers both a means of getting an immediate and complete view of a photographer's experience and a fantastic opportunity to share with the whole world (?) the emotions I feel when I take a photo. Piwigo is a marvellous tool, with no limits except perhaps a few technical faults, but all this can be improved thanks to the sharing on the user forum and the wisdom of the Piwigo team.

Our sports club has been using Piwigo since the end of 2014 and we are very happy with it. We have replaced another software that was much more complicated to use. Our photo archive has become an indispensable part of our club life, as it allows us to make pictures of sporting events available to members. It is particularly important that we can regulate the authorization and thus the access to the photos very well via groups and that the various members only have access to events for which they are authorized. This is super easy to manage by dividing the system into different albums. The system is always available, easy to use after a short training period and self-explanatory in many places. As far as service is concerned, I have to say that in the past almost all problems and queries have been solved quickly and easily. I am very happy to recommend Piwigo.
